I first went to the Scarborough Bluffs in Toronto when I was fourteen. It was with a few friends on a cool summer day. We partied into the evening under the flickering light of a fire. The area has changed considerable since then with the addition of a landfill park, marina, ponds and the maturing of the natural environment along the bluff. As it erodes, the bluff itself has changed. Pillars of sediment that I remember are long gone. I have visited the bluffs hundreds of times over the years and still find the solitude a source of reenergized creativity.
